I am currently a week into an Entrepreneurial Retreat in Bali, and what an experience it has been so far…
On a couple of mornings during this first week, when my eyes have been opened to new learnings, I have felt myself start to experience an old sense of urgency…
More recently I have been living much more presently, mindfully and in the moment. So what had caused this shift in state that had taken me out of the moment as my mind wandered into the future?
The answer? The very thing I came to the retreat for, knowledge which would help me grow my business and help others build there’s!
On reflection what I experienced was a realisation of the gap between where I currently was and where I wanted to be (the emergence of a strong pull of desire). This was heightened with the realisation of what was possible with this new knowledge….
The outcome? My Egoic mind kicked in and started painting pictures of a perfect future and the need to do something about it now, which took me out of ‘the moment’ spoiling my state, and the quality of both my attention and interaction with others on those mornings.
So on further reflection I started to wonder, is it possible to be both spiritual and entrepreneurial?

If by being entrepreneurial we mean constantly striving for more than we currently have, working hard and sacrificing the moment we have for some future salvation then the answer clearly is no!
If, however, we build a business with the very aim of supporting and contributing further to humanity, and crucially…
If you go about your business with a quality of attention and present moment awareness which means you stay grounded, relaxed and at peace as you proceed, then yes I believe it is possible to be a spiritual entrepreneur.
A quick glance at one of my favourite books, The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success, reminds me of this. Deepak Chopra is a great example of such a spiritual entrepreneur!
If you are reading this and thinking that you are not sure how much your business supports humanity then don’t worry.
Most business’s by their very nature help other people and I believe it is the last point which is most important for people. I.e It is not what you do but the quality of the energy and attention you bring to each moment throughout the day.
Keep an eye out over the coming weeks and months as we will be launching an online coaching programme to help support business owners and entrepreneurs grow both holistically and materially….
